EPDM cold shrink breakout / EPDM cold shrinkable boot

Product Description

EPDM cold shrink insulation breakouts or EPMD cold shrinkable boots, manufactured from EPDM rubber, are a series of open-ended, tubular rubber sleeves, which are factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core. The core is removed after the cold shrink breakout has been positioned on the breakout area of a multi-core cable.

The breakouts are used to protect the phase breakout area of three conductor medium voltage power cable from moisture and contamination penetration after the jacket has been removed in preparation for terminating, no extra tools such as gas torches or heat required. The cold shrink technology provides fast, safe and simple electrical insulation when comparing with heat shrink technology.

Installation

  1. Prepare the cable, and place the cold shrink breakout over the cable.

  2. Ensure correct positioning.

  3. Pull out the plastic support core in a continuous motion.

  4. The breakout shrinks automatically to form a tight seal.
